SOUTHERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY MUD JOINS SAN JACINTO RIVER AUTHORITY GROUND WATER REDUCTION PLAN
Effective August 1, 2010, Southern Montgomery County MUD (SMCMUD) customers will pay an additional fee for water service in the amount of $0.56 per 1,000 gallons of water used. SMCMUD has entered into a contract with the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) for groundwater reduction planning. This fee will go to the SJRA to prepare and implement the regional solution for conversion to surface water, including construction of lines and water treatment facilities. Please click on link below for more details specific to groundwater conversion to surface water relative to SMCMUD. You can also check the San Jacinto River Authority website at www.sjra.net for more current updates.

WATER PLANT CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Water Plant No. 3 construction is nearing completion. All tanks and buildings have been erected. The Contractor is completing electrical and piping installations and anticipates having the plant functional in 6-8 weeks. We’ve been fortunate to have a wet summer. Please help us to eliminate wasting water by turning off your sprinklers during and after a heavy rain event. Grass and plants can survive for up to a week after a good rain without watering.

RATE ORDER
The District has adopted a new rate order effective July 21, 2010. New regulations for fire sprinkler systems, non-owner occupied single family residential deposits, and new San Jacinto River Authority fees have been added. Please check it out under “Forms and Policies/Orders and Plans”.
